Presentation to my Supervisor.

Presentation notes: As everyone has a broad spectrum of ways to watch films outside of the cinema, my Extended Project Qualification (or EPQ) will be an informative video on how cinema attendance has changed over the past couple of years. It’ll draw a conclusion on whether cinema is going to end and lose its battle with the introduction of new technologies. Many small pressures can have a huge impact on an entire billionaire dollar industry.

Presentation Notes: My project title is ‘Movie Attendance’ and it is in the form of an informative video with facts and statistics regarding the change over the course of 100 years or so.
The reason I chose this was I really wanted to show off my skills in video editing and the topic is what I find strongly interesting.
I currently study A2 Media Studies and English Lit/Lan, which both combined form my overall EPQ project. I also plan to study film production further at university.
Presentation Notes: My research came from constructing a questionnaire on a website called SurveyMonkey.com to gather information about significant things affecting the cinema experience. In this, I’ll be producing open response boxes on my survey to anyone within the range of the film industry’s target audience. The youth plays a key part in giving honest open answers because they’re more aware of what’s happening to the developing world around them.
Using this website, all of the closed questions were organised into charts so it was simpler to come to a conclusion for each question.
I visited various different popular websites on the topic of the declines and rise of the attendance in cinemas across the globe, regarding box office grosses for movies.
Amongst these were;
Indiereign.com
I used techradar.com
And mpaa.org

Presentation Notes: From my research, I can comment my results have not sided with cinema very well. People mention a vast amount of platforms used, meaning there are many accessible ways of viewing movies, they also mention only going to the cinema roughly every month, corresponding with how many people are watching theatrically released films, some wrote below 6.

Presentation Notes: I manage to make use of some planning for the project. The first is a SWOT analysis on the right to detail all of my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that might come my way.
The second is a sample script. I’ve scripted the project since I need to outline all the things I want to be/and should be addressed. Although, in hindsight, I could of used a Gantt chart to plan my process better as it structures everything I do for planning of all my scripts, video ideas etc.

Presentation Notes: I'll be describing in my artifact the biggest competitors to cinemas and how they pose a threat on the silver-screen experience. New technologies is a common popular topic that comes up in conversation, where people are dumping their T.Vs and switching to internet services for viewing what they want and when they want; two options that haven't been made possible with television and cinemas. In addition, I'll also comment on the growing number of illegal torrent downloading.
Torrenting becomes popular by the day; websites such as, The Pirate Bay, which has currently surpassed a staggering billion page views a month.

Presentation Notes: I'll be gathering open response boxes on my survey to garner honest thoughts to prove that the world is changing with the internet etc.
I tried to single out a few variables that I found in my research to be important to predicting movie attendance. I dedicated at least using research to show the decline and the rise of cinema attendance.

Introduction

My Extended Project Qualification will be an informative video on how cinema attendance has changed over the past 100 years and why new technologies and piracy is affecting the billionaire dollar movie industry. I'll be gathering open response boxes on my survey to mostly peer groups, the youth. The youth are more associated with viewing movies in various different ways. An article in The New Post stated the average movie goer 'went to the theater eight times a year; last year, it was fewer than six. In particular, younger viewers are going to movies less often. Attendance per person for consumers ages 12 to 24 is down 40 percent since 2002'

From this title, I'll be describing in my artifact the biggest competitors to cinemas and how they pose a threat on the silver-screen experience. New technologies is a common popular topic that comes up in conversation, where people are dumping their T.Vs and switching to internet services for viewing what they want and when they want; two options that haven't been made possible with television and cinemas. In addition, I'll also comment on the growing number of illegal torrent downloading. Torrenting becomes popular by the day like websites such as The Pirate Bay, which has currently surpassed a billion page views a month.

Website I used for my own Research

I consider myself to be a rather shy person and giving random strangers a pen and some paper to write their input was the last thing I wanted to do. Luckily, my mother mentioned a website called SurveyMonkey.com, a website where you can create your own questionnaire on the topic of your choice and can be sent quickly and efficiently to people via link.
Useful tool for primary research

In the process, I sent the link to the many social networks I own, so my followers could take about 5 minutes of their time to complete a survey consisting of 10 questions. I recommend it to anyone who need to create their own bit of research and, eventually, gather enough answers to conclude your study/artefact.
